The POWER2UAMs project is dedicated to ensuring equal access to good-quality public services for unaccompanied children (UACs) in the asylum system and those in transit at the local level.

The EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by all EU Member States, guarantee the rights of all children - regardless of their migration background or residence status. Public authorities at all levels (national, regional, and local) are bound to uphold these rights.

However, unaccompanied children remain one of the most vulnerable groups in Europe. Lacking parental care, they embark on challenging journeys to Europe, often to escape conflict, seek better opportunities, or reunite with family. Upon arrival, they face significant challenges, including:

• Limited access to essential public services

• Homelessness

• Barriers to education, including segregated schooling

• Prolonged administrative procedures

The POWER2UAMs project addresses these barriers and advocates for systemic change to improve the lives of unaccompanied children across Europe.
