Welcome to Power2UAMs
'Power to unaccompanied minors' is an EU funded project dedicated to ensuring equal access to public services at the local level for every unaccompanied child.

First consortium meeting in Athens in February 2025, hosted by Greek Council for Refugees.
Background
The EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by all EU Member States, guarantee the rights of all children - regardless of their migration background or residence status. Public authorities at all levels (national, regional, and local) are bound to uphold these rights.
However, unaccompanied children remain one of the most vulnerable groups in Europe facing a wide range of challenges in their everyday life, including:
-
Lack of access to essential public services;
-
Lack of recognition as children (discriminatory ‘age assessments’ procedures);
-
Homelessness;
-
Institutionalisation;
-
Violence and abuse;
-
Segregated education;
-
Prolonged asylum procedures.
